Late July View of New Therapy Wing Construction

Quaker Heights is still under construction although slightly behind, the positive energy around campus has not been lost. We look forward to the opening of this new wing with more and more anticipation daily. It will offer private short-stay rehab therapy suites, therapy gym, and consultation areas. Miami University Nursing Alumni Distinguished Service Award

The best gratification in receiving a Distinguished Service Award, according to Wendy Waters-Connell, is being able to recognize the people who helped her get to where she is, the Executive Director of Quaker Heights Care Community, a 110-year-old institution in Waynesville, Ohio. “I don’t feel like I’ve achieved anything great,” she said. “I’ve just worked hard, but I’ve had wonderful people who have helped me get to where I am.” Waters-Connell credits New Miami High School English teacher Stephanie Darbyshire as one of the first educators to urge her toward success by steering her toward the Miami University Regional Campuses. “I was going to be a high-risk student, coming from a socio-economically depressed area, not having a lot of life experience.
